Confirmation is a when a person makes a mature, public affirmation of their Christian faith and promises made on their behalf at baptism.
The bishop presides at the confirmation service, recalling that our faith connects each of us to Christians throughout God’s universal church.
Confirmation welcomes youth and adults who have not yet made a mature, public affirmation of faith in Christ or celebrated this rite of the Church with a Bishop.
Reception into the Episcopal Church is when the bishop welcomes all who have previously been confirmed in other denominations in the apostolic succession Lutheran, Roman Catholic or Christian Orthodox churches.
Reaffirmation of baptismal vows is when anyone who has previously been confirmed in or received into the Episcopal Church and wishes to renew their commitment in Christ and mark the opening of a new spiritual beginning.
