Christ has no body but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
Compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet,
Yours are the eyes, you are his body.
Christ has no body now but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
compassion on this world.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.
In 2003, our pastor, Tom Furrer, helped to found Kateri Medical Services, a foundation that partners with local church leaders in Nigeria to help them provide simple, decent and affordable medical care to people who cannot otherwise afford it. Their mission is to follow the example of Jesus Christ, who proclaimed the Kingdom of God and healed the sick as a sign of God’s love for people. Their clinics are part of the Church’s mission to teach and live and demonstrate the love of God.
The Lord's Lunch, is a free meal open to the public, served every Saturday at Trinity Lutheran. Christ Episcopal contributes to this ministry, as one of the organizations that prepares and serves the meal in rotation. We take pride in preparing a hot meal from scratch.
We do regular collections for Kent Social Services, including a yearly backpack & school supplies drive and collecting blankets in the winter. We also have the Black Squirrel Piecemakers, a quilting group that makes quilts for Project Linus.
Each holiday season we organize an outreach collection for group home residents at Coleman Professional Services to provide them with gift cards so residents can buy gifts for themselves and their loved ones.
The Socially Responsible Sweatshop is committed to repurposing landfill-destined textiles into useful, beautiful items. These items are lovingly crafted and priced affordably. Proceeds from the sales of these items are donated to provide extra funds for food-insecure community members and other social justice projects. The volunteers of the SRS strive to be helpful to our brothers and sisters while demonstrating responsible stewardship of our Earth and the protection of its environment.
SRS welcomes participation from folks of all abilities. We need sewists, people to cut out projects, and people to help with stuffing our mediation pillows. Regular hours are: Sunday and Monday 1-3 pm and Tuesday and Friday 10:00 am to noon at Christ Episcopal Church in the lower level. Enjoy fellowship and help to end food insecurity in Portage County.
You find a link to their online shop here. Learn more about the SRS here.
Give to the United Thank Offering with a designated gift in our offering plate or here.
